Small river marina on the right bank of the Saône at Seurre, in Côte-d'Or, Burgundy.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Saône navigation between PK 197 and PK 198, downstream of the Seurre lock. Approach at reduced speed along the right bank. No tidal constraint. The river can run 2 to 3 knots after heavy rain in winter and spring.
Practical
Floating pontoons with water and electricity at the berth. Toilets and showers in the harbour building. No fuel at the pontoon. Supermarket, bakeries and cafes in Seurre town centre within 400 m.
Ashore
Walk across the old stone bridge into Seurre, a Saône river town of about 2 500 inhabitants, in 5 minutes. The Maison du Blé et du Pain, a small museum on wheat and bread, sits at the Place du Général de Gaulle at 500 m. The EuroVelo 6 cycle route along the Saône passes through the town.
History
Seurre was an important Saône river port from the Middle Ages, shipping wine, wheat and timber towards Lyon. Bernard Loiseau, the three-Michelin-starred chef of Saulieu, was born in Chamont a few kilometres away in 1951.
