Guide
Approach and anchoring
The island lies just off the Intracoastal Waterway. Surrounding banks give all-round shelter for shoal-draught boats, though depths in the lagoon are limited. Holding is good in sand and mud.
Practical
Anchoring only. Causeway Cove Marina is 0.4 mile to the south-east and Harbour Isle Marina 0.5 mile to the east for fuel and supplies.
Ashore
The spoil islands of the Indian River Lagoon were built from dredge material during construction of the Intracoastal Waterway. Their shallow edges carry mangrove, salt marsh and seagrass, and the lagoon is a state aquatic protected area between Vero Beach and Fort Pierce.
