Approach and anchoring
Enter from the eastern end of Coney Island Channel and Rockaway Inlet. The bay shelters winds from NW through SW, with the northern quadrant well covered by the Brooklyn shore. Mud gives good holding. Venice Marina is 0.3 mile to the north and Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club 0.4 mile to the west.
Practical
Marinas line the bay, with Venice Marina and Sheepshead Bay Yacht Club close by for berths, water and provisions. Shops, restaurants and public transport are within walking distance along Emmons Avenue.
Ashore
Sheepshead Bay has been a base for party and charter fishing boats for generations, with vessels running daily trips to the grounds of the New York Bight. The Emmons Avenue waterfront, lined with seafood restaurants, runs the length of the bay.
