Guide
Approach and anchoring
An open cove with a sand bottom, sheltered only from N, NE and NW; it lies fully exposed to the prevailing swell and is a fair-weather daytime stop. Nearest marina facilities are some 6 NM NW.
Practical
The cove sits inside a no-take State Marine Reserve in force since 2012. Nothing may be taken from the water. Bedrock benches and tidepools fringe a short stretch of sand.
Ashore
Shaws Cove is reached on foot from the residential streets above the beach, with central Laguna Beach a short distance to the south-east.
