Mooring cove on the north-west shore of Santa Catalina Island, California, with a sand beach and a sand bottom.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

Approach from Catalina's leeward side. The bay holds 102 moorings and anchoring room for five to ten boats clear of the buoy field. Sheltered from winds out of NW through E, open to the south-west swell. Call the Catalina Island Company Harbor Patrol on VHF channel 09 on arrival to take a mooring.

Practical

Moorings are rented first come, first served when the leaseholder is absent, with fees paid to the Harbor Patrol. No fuel or chandlery at the bay. CRC Marinas and Villa Cove Marina lie about 5 nautical miles to the NW for provisions and fuel.

Ashore

A natural sand beach fringes the cove and is reachable by tender. The clear water over the sand bottom suits snorkelling close to the moorings.
