Guide

Approach and anchoring

Freshwater reservoir at 805 m altitude. Mud bottom, good holding. Sheltered from N through E to SE and from the S, open to W. No tide. Pareloup cove 3,5 nm W. Water level varies with EDF drawdown for the Pareloup hydroelectric station.

Practical

Slipway and municipal beach at Les Vernhes, on the north shore. Village of Salles-Curan 2 km from the lake, full shops. Water sports base open in summer.

Ashore

Salles-Curan retains the 15th-century fortified château of the bishops of Rodez and the 15th-century collegiate church Saint-Géraud. Lake circuit on foot or bike of 80 km. Occitanie lamb from the Lévézou and Roquefort cheese caves 40 km SW at Roquefort-sur-Soulzon.
