Large Port of Los Angeles marina at Berths 42-43 in San Pedro, on the west side of the main harbour behind the federal breakwater.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Los Angeles Harbor through Angels Gate, then steer west-north-west towards the Cabrillo Beach basin. The marina sits inside the inner harbour, sheltered from the open Pacific swell by the breakwater. Fuel berth on site for arrivals running low.
Practical
Around 695 wet berths from 28 to 130 ft, plus 375 dry storage spaces. Fuel berth, fresh water, shore power, ice, heads and showers, lockers, free WiFi, dinghy and kayak racks. Pump-out station at 2293 Miner Street. Port of Los Angeles certified clean marina.
Ashore
Cabrillo Beach and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium a short walk south. Downtown San Pedro and the Battleship Iowa Museum at Berth 87 about a mile to the north-east along the waterfront promenade.
History
The site traces back to the Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club from the early 1900s. The Port of Los Angeles bought the land in the 1960s and rebuilt the marina in its current configuration, opened in 2010 after a full reconstruction of pontoons and breakwater.
