Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Long Beach Harbor through Queen's Gate or Angel's Gate from San Pedro Bay, then make for Rainbow Harbor inside the breakwater. The pier carries a 200 ft day-use dock for visiting boats, three-hour limit, first come first served.
Practical
87 slips on Rainbow Marina for commercial and recreational vessels. Day moorings only on Pine Avenue Pier itself. Shoreline Village arcades, restaurants and boat rental operators line the inner harbour, with sport fishing boats and water taxis departing from the pier.
Ashore
Aquarium of the Pacific 200 m west across the esplanade. Long Beach Convention Center and downtown restaurants on Pine Avenue at 400 m north. Queen Mary moored across the main channel at 1 km south, reached by water taxi.
History
The current pier sits north of the former Rainbow Pier, a 3,800 ft horseshoe-shaped structure opened in 1931 and demolished in the mid-1960s during the land reclamation that created Shoreline Drive and the convention area.
