Small river port on the Rhône at Seyssel, on the border between Haute-Savoie and Ain, upstream of the Génissiat reservoir.

Approach and anchoring
Access by the navigable Haut-Rhône from the Lac du Bourget via the Savières canal and the Chautagne lock. Current can reach 2 knots depending on releases at Motz dam. Airdraft limited by the Seyssel road bridge.
Practical
Pontoon for small craft and river cruisers, water at the quay. No fuel on site. Nearest plaisance facilities at Chindrieux 9.4 nm south and Conjux 9.7 nm south on the Lac du Bourget.
Ashore
Two villages facing each other across the river, linked by the 1840 suspension bridge rebuilt in 1987. Vineyards of the AOC Roussette de Seyssel and Seyssel blanc on the slopes above the town. ViaRhôna cycle route passes through the port, running from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean.
History
Seyssel was a major Rhône trading port from the Middle Ages, shipping wine, salt and timber downriver to Lyon. The original suspension bridge of 1840 by engineer Marc Seguin was one of the earliest of its kind in France.
