Approach and anchoring
Enter from the E between Ratonneau and Pomègues. Sand and rock bottom, anchor on sand and check the set. Sheltered from SW, S and SE, exposed from N and NE when the mistral blows. Port du Frioul lies 0.6 NM to the SW as a refuge.
Practical
Forain anchorage with no facilities. Tender ashore to the island paths. Shops, bakery and restaurants at Port du Frioul village. Ferry link to Marseille Vieux-Port operated by RTM.
Ashore
The Frioul archipelago is part of the Parc national des Calanques. Marked footpaths cross Ratonneau to the Hôpital Caroline ruins, a 19th century quarantine hospital, about 1 km from the cove. The Château d'If, built by François I in 1527, lies 1.5 NM to the E.
