Approach and anchoring

Enter from the Golfe de Saint-Tropez keeping clear of the Cap de Saint-Pierre to the west. Sand bottom, good holding. Shelter from NW, W and SW. Exposed to E and SE, fully open to the mistral swell when it wraps round the cape. Port du Pilon 2.5 NM NW, Saint-Tropez old harbour 2.5 NM NW.

Practical

Forain anchoring in 3 to 8 m. No moorings, no services on the beach. Tous commerces and fuel berth at Saint-Tropez old harbour.

Ashore

La Ponche beach and the Place des Lices market, held Tuesday and Saturday mornings, are a short walk from Saint-Tropez harbour once you shift berth. The Sentier du Littoral coastal path starts at the Tour du Portalet and runs south round the peninsula past Les Canebiers itself.

History

The villa La Madrague on the south side of the bay was bought by Brigitte Bardot in 1958 after the filming of And God Created Woman. She still lives there and the bay has kept her association in the local memory.
