Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter Oswego harbour between the breakwaters; a flashing green light marks the north jetty and a flashing yellow light the east end. Approach depth 6 metres, dockside 4.6 metres, so no draught issues for cruising yachts. Lake Ontario can build a short steep sea from the NW.
Practical
Around 65 berths plus commercial dock space, operated by the Port of Oswego Authority at 3 Basin Street. Petrol and diesel at the fuel berth, pump-out, 30 and 50 amp shore power, showers, laundry, fish cleaning station, haul-out with gin pole. Phone +1 315 342 0436.
History
Oswego was the first commercial freshwater port chartered in the United States in 1799. The Oswego Canal, opened in 1828, connected Lake Ontario to the Erie Canal at Three Rivers and remains a working waterway.
