Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Chesapeake Bay through the Patapsco and Bear Creek. The site lies about 8 miles from the Baltimore Inner Harbour and 15 miles from the Bay Bridge. Bear Creek is well sheltered, with a marked approach channel.
Practical
About 226 berths. Fuel and pump-out on site, plus a 30-ton boat hoist and a repair workshop. There is a swimming pool, picnic area and a playground.
History
The site traces back to the early 1900s, when it served as a repair and storage yard for the Bethlehem Steel works at Sparrows Point.
