Guide
Approach and anchoring
The anchorage lies on the open western shore of San Pablo Bay and is protected from west through south. It stays exposed to wind and chop from the north and east. Holding is in mud. Loch Lomond Yacht Club and Safe Harbor Loch Lomond, both with fuel and services, sit about 2 nm to the south-west.
Ashore
McNears Beach Park is a 55-acre Marin County park with a sandy swimming beach, a seasonal pool, picnic lawns and a 500-foot fishing pier where anglers take halibut, sturgeon and striped bass. China Camp State Park, with its restored 19th-century shrimp-fishing village, adjoins the park to the north-west.
History
The McNear family ran a beach resort here in the 19th century alongside a quarry and brickyard. Marin County bought 55 acres in 1970 to create the present park.
