Approach and anchoring
Access from the Rhine via the Grand Canal d'Alsace and the écluse nord de Strasbourg, then through the city reach of the Ill and the bassin Dusuzeau. The basin is sheltered on all sides by masonry quays. No tidal constraints. VNF waterway code D53. Standard European inland waterway rules apply, VHF 10 for lock contact.
Practical
About 150 berths for boats up to 20 m length. Water, 220 V electricity, wifi on pontoons. Sanitary block with showers. No fuel berth, nearest refuelling by cistern on request. Year-round capitainerie, winter storage ashore available.
Ashore
The Grande Ile of Strasbourg, UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988, begins 1.5 km south by foot along the Ill. Strasbourg Cathedral and its astronomical clock at 2 km. Parc de l'Orangerie, the oldest park in the city laid out in 1692 and redesigned for Empress Josephine in 1804, at 1.2 km east. Tram stop Parlement Européen at 400 m.
History
The Bassin des Remparts was dug in the 1880s as part of the German-era fortified port expansion after the annexation of Alsace in 1871. Commercial traffic moved downstream to the Port Autonome in the 20th century, leaving the basin available for pleasure use.
