Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached off the ICW close to the inlet. The usual spot is up Calabash Creek, whose entrance bar carries about 5 feet at extreme low water. Give Calabash Creek red daybeacon 2A a wide berth to clear the shoal, then steer towards the line of charted dolphins. Sand and mud bottom holds well. Open to the west.
Practical
Cricket Cove Marina lies 3.9 miles to the west and Ocean Isle Marina 4.1 miles to the north-east for fuel and provisions. Wakes from shrimp boats and tour vessels run through the channel by day and night.
Ashore
The fishing town of Calabash sits a short run up the river, known for its seafood restaurants along the waterfront. A golf course occupies the wooded shore on the north side of the creek.
