Approach and anchoring
Liberty Bay is reached through a narrow channel from Puget Sound. Good holding in mud, usually in 3 to 4 metres. The anchorage is sheltered from the north-east, west and south-west. A breakwater off the Port of Poulsbo gives further shelter.
Practical
Fresh water is available. A dinghy dock at Poulsbo Marina gives access to the town. Liberty Bay Marina lies about 0.3 nautical miles north-east and Poulsbo Yacht Club about 0.4 nautical miles north.
Ashore
Front Street in downtown Poulsbo runs a short walk from the waterfront, with Nordic shops, bakeries and galleries. Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park has a boardwalk with views of the Olympic Mountains.
History
Poulsbo was settled in the 1880s by Norwegian immigrant Jorgen Eliason and other Scandinavian families, and the town keeps a Norwegian character along Front Street.
