Guide
Approach and anchoring
The lake lies off the ICW about 3 nautical miles from Hillsboro Inlet, with depths of 2.5 to 3.5 metres. It is sheltered from all directions, but cruisers report poor holding, with anchors slow to set and submerged debris on the bottom. Allow room to re-set and check the anchor after dark.
Practical
Anchoring is free. Florida law prohibits anchoring within 150 feet of any marina or launching facility. The lake is also charted as Lake Santa Barbara. A market with groceries is reachable by dinghy past the fixed US-1 bridge.
Ashore
Boathouse Marine Center lies about 0.4 nautical miles to the north-west and a Freedom Boat Club base about 0.3 nautical miles to the south-east, both useful for shore access and provisioning runs.
