Lavallette Yacht Club
- Type
- Harbour
Private sailing club on Swan Point at Lavallette, on the Barnegat Bay barrier island, New Jersey, founded in 1904.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Set on the bay side of the barrier island, reached through the lagoon channels off Lavallette. Bay water is shallow and best suited to centreboard and small keel boats.
Practical
The club is private and runs as a sailing organisation rather than a transient marina. It has a large junior sailing programme and hosts regattas for the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association, including the Wayne Barr Gaff Rig Regatta.
History
The club was founded in 1904 to promote sailing and yachting on Barnegat Bay and has remained an active racing club on Swan Point ever since.
