Approach and anchoring
Access by the village of Lacanau-Ville on the east shore of the lake. Max draught 0.7 metres, shoal-draught boats and dinghies only. No tide. Westerly winds cross the open lake fetch.
Practical
Shallow berths for small craft. Hourtin-Carcans lake harbour is 12.2 NM to the N and the Arcachon Bay oyster port of Andernos 14.1 NM to the S across country.
Ashore
Lacanau-Océan surf beach lies 14 km west by road on the Atlantic coast. The lake is surrounded by pine forest with marked cycle paths along the Médoc Atlantic véloroute.
