Approach and anchoring
Freshwater lake of about 1,100 hectares, no tidal constraint. Boats limited to the dimensions set by the lake authority. Port de Nonsard lies 0.9 nm to the north for shelter and services.
Practical
Holding on mud. Protection from NW through S; exposed to easterly winds. VHF not relevant on the lake. Water and basic services available at Port de Nonsard.
Ashore
Marked cycling loop around the lake, about 21 km total, usable from the shoreline near Nonsard. Bird observatory on the southern shore at Heudicourt. Village of Nonsard-Lamarche 1 km from the port with bakery and small grocery.
History
Lac de Madine was created in 1970 by damming the Rupt de Mad to supply drinking water to the Metz conurbation. The lake lies within the Parc naturel régional de Lorraine.
