Anchorage off the Île de Guiriden in the Glénan archipelago, south Finistère, Brittany. The islet is a long white sand bar that uncovers at low water.

Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom, good holding on the south and southwest side of the bar. Protection from W and SW swell lost at high water when the bar submerges. Approach from the east through the chenal des Bluiniers, waypoints marked on the SHOM charts. Strong tidal streams across the archipelago.
Practical
Day anchorage only, no infrastructure on the islet. Sailing school buoys reserved for Les Glénans trainees in the inner lagoon. Nearest refuge at Port 1.3 NM to the W, and Port de Trévignon on the mainland at 6.3 NM to the NE for fuel and supplies.
Ashore
The archipelago is a Natura 2000 site and a national nature reserve for the narcissus of the Glénan, a flower endemic to the island of Saint-Nicolas. Walking on Guiriden is tolerated on the sand bar itself, not on the dune vegetation.
Story
At low water springs the Guiriden bar forms a tombolo of white sand over 500 m long, frequently compared in cruising guides to a Caribbean cay.
