Approach and anchoring
Inside the bassin, approach from the Passe Sud or Passe Nord then follow the buoyed channel south along the dune. Shifting sand banks, chart plotters quickly out of date, eyeball navigation essential. Sand bottom. Sheltered from east, exposed to prevailing W to NW winds and swell entering the pass.
Practical
No services. Port de La Teste 2,7 NM east and Port à Sec 2,8 NM north-east for diesel, water and repairs.
Ashore
Dune du Pilat directly behind the anchorage, 2,7 km long and 500 m wide, classified Grand Site de France. Forêt des Landes de Gascogne pine forest immediately inland. Banc d'Arguin national nature reserve just across the pass, access regulated.
