Approach and anchoring
The anchorage lies in the cove off the park's 490-acre shoreline, on a mud bottom. It is sheltered from the southwest through southeast and open to the rest of the compass. East Greenwich and its marinas lie about half a mile to the west.
Practical
Fresh water is available. The park has a boat ramp, a kayak launch and a saltwater swimming beach with a bathhouse on Greenwich Bay.
Ashore
Goddard Memorial State Park covers 490 acres of woodland with picnic grounds, a nine-hole golf course and 18 miles of bridle trails. Goddard Park Beach is reached on foot from the shore. East Greenwich town centre, half a mile west, has shops and restaurants.
History
The park was the estate of Robert Goddard, a Rhode Island politician. His children gave the land to the state in 1927 as a memorial, and the park opened in 1930.
