Private yacht club on Greenwich Cove, an arm of Narragansett Bay in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Greenwich Cove opens off the western side of Narragansett Bay and is approached from the bay through buoyed water. The club lies on the cove waterfront among several small marinas. Call ahead on VHF 9 for a transient mooring, since berths are limited.
Practical
Around 125 club moorings, rented seasonally to members, with a handful kept for transient visitors under reciprocal yacht-club arrangements. Petrol and a pump-out station are available. Launch service runs to and from the moorings.
Ashore
Main Street runs along the cove with shops and seafood restaurants within a few minutes' walk. Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar at 240 Main Street and Water Street Kitchen and Bar on the harbour front both serve local oysters.
History
The club was founded in 1927 by a group of local boaters and has remained a members' sailing club on the cove since then.
