Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward on the Tyrrhenian side of Corsica. Sand bottom with good holding. Sheltered from NW through N to W, fully exposed to the east, which is the prevailing onshore sector in settled weather. Leave at the first sign of a libeccio veering east.
Practical
No facilities on the beach. Nearest harbours are Port Taverna 14.5 NM N and Solenzara 15.7 NM SW, both with fuel, water and provisioning.
Ashore
Étang d'Urbino inland is a classified Natura 2000 lagoon with oyster and mussel farming. The Roman site of Aléria, founded by Greek colonists in the 6th century BC, lies a few kilometres to the north with a museum inside the Fort de Matra.
