Approach and anchoring
Approached from East Grand Traverse Bay. Charted approach depth is about 12 feet, with roughly 7 feet at low water datum near the entrance mouth and 7 to 18 feet inside the main harbour. Elk Rapids is a State of Michigan harbour of refuge, and staff will not turn boats away in an emergency.
Practical
Run by the Village of Elk Rapids, with 265 berths, petrol, picnic and barbecue areas. Transient dockage runs May to October, with reservations from 8 am on 15 May each year. The marina also has berths on Elk Lake and a launch ramp onto the Antrim County chain of lakes.
Ashore
Downtown Elk Rapids is a short walk from the harbour, with restaurants, art galleries, breweries and a farmers market. Sandy beaches flank the marina on both sides.
