Guide

Approach and anchoring

The bay opens to the east, entered between the headlands and the small islets that border it. Bottom of sand and weed, with holding reported as good and shelter running NW through W to S. Mooring buoys are laid in the bay and fill quickly in summer, so be ready to anchor out.

Ashore

Sucia Island is reached only by boat. Trails run from the shore to fossil-bearing sandstone formations and around the island's bays, including Fossil Bay and Shallow Bay. Camping and day-use areas are managed by Washington State Parks.
