Former floating-home community on Redwood Creek in Redwood City, being decommissioned by the city after a 2014 State Lands Commission ruling against residential use.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Up Redwood Creek from the South Bay, after the Port of Redwood City. The creek is narrow and shoals at low water, no transient boating use today.
Practical
Marina no longer operates as a commercial facility. Most vessels have been removed since 2023 and dock demolition is under way. A joint shoreline cleanup with the Hannig Environmental Research Organization was agreed in June 2025.
History
Redwood City took control of the site in 1945 and leased it to marina operators from 1965 to 2013. The floating community grew from the 1960s and once counted more than 80 members. The city paid 1.5 million USD to settle a 2015 lawsuit demanding the houseboats' removal.
