Guide
Approach and anchoring
Baie de Seine waters, strong tidal streams near the estuary. Deauville and Trouville share the mouth of the Touques river with a drying bar. The anchorage off the beach dries at low water springs on the inshore part, holding is fair on sand but fully exposed from NW through NE.
Practical
No services at the anchorage itself. Marina de Deauville 1.4 NM E and Port de Deauville 1.7 NM E both accept visitors with fuel, water, electricity and a boatyard in Deauville.
Ashore
Les Planches, the wooden boardwalk laid in 1923, runs 643 m along the Deauville beach from the anchorage landing. Casino Barrière, the racecourse of La Touques and the American Film Festival venue are all within the town. Trouville fish market on the Touques quay remains open year-round.
History
Deauville was founded as a seaside resort in 1860 by the Duc de Morny, half-brother of Napoleon III. The railway from Paris reached the town in 1863 and fixed its place as the closest sea resort to the capital.
