Ashore
Climb the Montée Rastello or the King of Aragon staircase of 187 steps cut into the cliff. The old citadel of the Haute Ville sits 60 m above the water. Cemetery of the Marins at the tip of the peninsula with its whitewashed tombs.
History
The citadel was founded in 828 by Bonifacio II of Tuscany. The town was a Genoese stronghold from the twelfth to the eighteenth century and its fortifications remain largely intact.
