Guide

Approach and anchoring

Inland lake of about 250 hectares, no tidal constraints. Approach via the club slipway on the eastern shore. Bottom of sand and mud. Shelter from NW, N, W and SW winds by the surrounding wooded banks.

Practical

Water available at the club. No fuel, no chandlery. Town of Ploërmel with supermarkets and restaurants within 2 km. No direct access from the sea. Malestroit lies 8.4 NM S on the Nantes-Brest canal, Saint-Martin-sur-Oust 13.7 NM SE.

Ashore

Lac au Duc is used for sailing, rowing and paddle. Forêt de Paimpont, identified in local tradition with the legend of Brocéliande, starts about 10 km SE of Ploërmel and is crossed by the GR37.

History

Ploërmel is a medieval town, seat of the Dukes of Brittany in the 13th and 14th centuries. The collegiate church of Saint-Armel dates from the 16th century.
