Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the inner reaches of Boston Harbor. A 1,225-foot hybrid steel and concrete breakwater with ipe decking shelters the berths from outer-harbour wave and wake.
Practical
371 single and double-loaded berths on rebuilt ipe wood pontoons, taking vessels up to 400 feet. Metered shore power in 30, 50, 100 and 200 amp ratings, single and three-phase. The marina was fully renovated in 2016.
Ashore
The USS Constitution and its museum lie within the Navy Yard. Bunker Hill Monument and the Freedom Trail leading into Boston's North End are a short walk from the pontoons.
History
Charlestown Navy Yard was a US Navy shipbuilding and repair base from 1800 until 1974. It now forms part of Boston National Historical Park, with the marina occupying former working piers.
