Approach and anchoring
Approach on sight from seaward. Entrance marked by red and green lights at the jetty heads. Watch for the mistral funnelling into the bay from the northwest. Maximum draught 3 m. VHF channel 9.
Practical
400 berths. Fuel berth with diesel on the pontoon. Water and shore power. Harbour office open year-round. All shops and restaurants of the village within 200 m of the port.
Ashore
Coastal path to the calanque of Port-Miou 1.5 km from the port, at the gate of the Calanques National Park. Market Wednesday and Friday mornings on Place Baragnon 250 m away. Route des Crêtes up to Cap Canaille 7 km east, the highest maritime cliff in France at 394 m.
History
Cassis is a fishing port documented since the 12th century. The town drew painters Derain, Matisse and Dufy in the early 20th century and inspired Provençal poet Frédéric Mistral.
