Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south, direct from the Baie de La Ciotat. Sand and rock bottom in 3 to 8 metres. Red pudding-stone cliffs on both sides, no lights. Shelter from N, NE, E and NW; exposed to the south swell and to the libeccio from SW.
Practical
Mouillage forain only, no services, no buoys. A small beach and a stone staircase climb to the village of La Ciotat. Nearest ports: La Ciotat Vieux Port at 0.7 NM NE and La Ciotat Nouveau Port at 1 NM NE, both with full facilities.
Ashore
The Parc du Mugel, a protected botanical site on the adjacent cape, covers 12 hectares of Mediterranean flora and offers a signposted trail. The restaurant Chez Tania, open on the rocks above the cove since 1947, is a local fixture.
History
The rock formations of Figuerolles inspired painter Georges Braque, who worked in La Ciotat in 1907 and produced several canvases of the cliff, considered among his transition works toward cubism.
