Bayside marina inside Caladesi Island State Park, on a barrier island off Dunedin, Florida, fronting St. Joseph Sound.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from Clearwater Harbor through Seven Mouth Creek. The marina has 108 floating slips taking boats up to 40 feet, most on a first come, first served basis with a few reservable berths.
Practical
Since the park reopened in July 2025 after storm damage, slips are limited, shore power is offline and no overnight stays are permitted. Check current status before arrival. Day fees apply.
Ashore
A short walk reaches the Gulf-facing beach, repeatedly rated among the best in the United States, plus a nature trail through the island's interior of pine flatwoods and mangrove. The park café and visitor area sit by the docks.
History
Swiss immigrant Henry Scharrer homesteaded 156 acres here in 1888. His daughter Myrtle Scharrer Betz, born on the island in 1895, later wrote of her life there in Yesteryear I Lived in Paradise. The land became a state park in 1967.
