Approach and anchoring
On the Beaufort River along the ICW, near the Woods Memorial swing bridge. Strong tidal current runs through the reach, so allow swinging room and a good scope. Holding is mixed over sand, rock and mud, and the spot is open to winds from north-west through south-west.
Practical
Open anchorage with fresh water available ashore. Safe Harbor Beaufort marina lies 0.5 miles to the north-east, Lady's Island Marina 1.4 miles to the east. Beaufort town docks sit beside Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, within a dinghy ride of downtown shops and provisions.

Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, opened in 1979, runs 7 acres along the river edge with a promenade. Downtown Beaufort's antebellum streets and shops begin a few steps from the park landing.
