Approach and anchoring
The anchorage lies just off the Alligator River swing bridge carrying US 64. The bridge normally opens on request but cannot open above 35 knots of wind, when the bridge tender may keep it closed. Holding is on mud; the spot is open except from the west.
Practical
Fresh water is available nearby. Alligator River Marina is 0.3 miles S and provides the only fuel and dockage along the AICW between Coinjock and Belhaven. Cypress Cove Marina is 12.2 miles W.
