Guide
Approach and anchoring
Mixed sand and rock bottom, but anchoring is forbidden year-round to protect the seabed, so pick up a buoy. Small islets give some shelter. Protected from NW, W and SW, exposed to easterly swell and to the tramontane funnelling down the valleys. Cerbère harbour 0.4 nm SW, Banyuls-sur-Mer 2.6 nm NW.
Practical
One of the three buoys is white and free for yachts, the two red ones are reserved for dive boats, and the white one is not always laid early in the season. Mooring is limited to 4 hours, allowed overnight, for boats up to 20 metres.
Ashore
Réserve naturelle marine de Cerbère-Banyuls starts here, the first marine reserve created in France in 1974. Snorkelling trail marked from the shore. Coastal path to Cerbère village in 20 minutes on foot.
