Approach and anchoring

Shelter from NW round through N, W, SW and S, but the tramontane is only really covered tucked in close to the beach at the head of the cove, and gusts still accelerate through the hollows behind. Bottom mixed sand, rock and algae, with uneven holding. Drop in 5 to 10 metres and dive the anchor to set it clear of the posidonia. Watch for rocks at the head and off the southern side of the cove.

Practical

No services on site. Port de Cerbère lies 0.7 NM to the south and Banyuls-sur-Mer 2.1 NM to the north-west for berths, water and provisioning.

Ashore

The GR 10 coastal path passes above the cove and links Banyuls to Cerbère along the cliffs. The Banyuls marine reserve, France's oldest, starts just to the north-west. Banyuls itself is the home of the Banyuls AOC fortified wine, with cellars open to visitors near the seafront.
