Tidal port on the Chenal de Saint-Vivien, left bank of the Gironde estuary, 14 km south of Pointe de Grave.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Access via the buoyed Chenal de Saint-Vivien, about 2 nm from its mouth on the main Gironde channel to the port. Practicable from HW minus 2 to HW plus 1 for yachts of 1.5 m draught. The channel and the port both dry at low water, so boats take the ground on mud. Keep strictly between the lateral marks, the banks are mud.
Practical
Pontoons managed by the local nautical association, about 60 berths including a few visitor spaces. Water on the pontoon, electricity limited. No diesel on site, nearest fuel at Port Médoc in Le Verdon, 14 km by road.
Ashore
The harbour itself is lined with fishing cabins and has somewhere to eat. Village of Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc 800 m from the port, bakery, grocery, pharmacy and a Sunday morning market. Médoc vineyards start 2 km inland. Atlantic beach of Montalivet 14 km by road on the ocean side of the peninsula.
