Approach and anchoring

Approach from the southern entrance of the golfe, then up the Auray river channel watching the buoyage. The bay is shallow and dries in places, so enter near high water; there is about 5 m on the way in, falling to little over 1 m at the anchorage, which suits a multihull or a boat that can take the ground. Keep clear of the withies as they mark rocks and oyster beds. Sand bottom, good holding, all-round shelter from the river bend and moderate streams.

Practical

Forain anchorage, no services. Locmariaquer lies 1.3 nm east with pontoon, water and shops. Port Deun Marine is 1.9 nm to the north-west.

Ashore

From Locmariaquer, megalithic site of the Table des Marchands and Grand Menhir Brisé at 600 m from the quay, managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. Oyster stalls along the quay sell Morbihan flat oysters direct from the producer.
