River reach on the Saône near the village of Ray-sur-Saône in Haute-Saône. Anchoring is prohibited in the navigable channel; overnight stops are made at the halte fluviale or nearby ports.

Approach and anchoring

Saône is canalised here and used by commercial barges and hire boats. Mud bottom, with depths of as little as 1 metre at the stop, so sound the way in and keep off the banks. Keep clear of the buoyed channel and of the lock approaches upstream and downstream. Shelter from all directions except N due to the narrow river course.

Practical

A freshwater tap with a push-button is available on shore. No fuel or electricity on the quay itself.

Ashore

Château de Ray-sur-Saône, a medieval keep rebuilt in the 18th century, visible from the river and bequeathed to the département in 2015. Village with a bakery, a small bar and the restaurant Chez Yvette. Halte fluviale at Savoyeux 3.9 NM W with pontoon, water and electricity, and Port de Chassey-lès-Scey 7.1 NM NE.
