Small anchorage on the north coast of the Île de Groix, east of Port-Tudy, with sand and rock bottom.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north keeping clear of the rocky heads that fringe the cove. Mixed sand and rock bottom; look for sand patches for secure holding. Shelter from SW, S and SE under the lee of the island. Exposed to the northerly and easterly swell, and the night land breeze can swing boats round at anchor.
Practical
Four visitor buoys are laid off the cove for boats under 8 metres from mid-April to mid-August, managed by a local sea users' association. Otherwise no services on site. Port-Tudy, the main harbour of Groix, lies 1.1 nm east with visitor berths, water, fuel and the ferry terminal, and shelter there in bad weather.
Ashore
Plage des Grands Sables, the only convex beach in Europe, is 1 km east on foot. The GR 340 coastal path loops around the island for 25 km. Village of Locmaria inland has a grocery and bakery.
