Small tidal harbour on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, in the Saintonge marshes north of the Medoc, drying to soft mud at low water.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry through a narrow channel cut into the marsh, signposted from the estuary. Enter near high water, maximum draught 1.5 metres, with strong estuary currents outside the channel. The basin dries out, so boats take the ground on soft mud and can lean over at low water. A launching slipway is available.
Practical
About 5 berths, mostly occupied by local boats. No fuel or chandlery on site. Nearest usable harbours are La Marechal 3.7 nm NW and Pauillac 5.5 nm S on the Medoc bank.
Ashore
The restaurant La Kbane stands at the foot of the port. The Terres d'Oiseaux birdwatching reserve is about 50 metres away.
