Approach and anchoring

Approach by eye and plot the rocks before dropping. The bottom is mixed sand, rock and weed: pick a clear sand patch and rig a tripping line, as anchors foul badly on rock with deep crevices, worst on the north side of the cove, and weed can tear out under load. Anchor on the white sand off the beach in shallow water, which dries at low tide, or further out in 10 to 12 m. Sheltered from NW, W and SW, open to the S and SE, and it takes swell even in shelter, so move out if the wind veers southerly or a westerly gets above about 18 knots. Busy in season, so arrive early.

Practical

No facilities at the anchorage. Nearest harbour 2,1 NM to the W, Port de Trévignon 6,1 NM to the NE with a short jetty, water and a slipway.

Ashore

The island carries a Glenans sailing school whose base occupies the interior, with a children's watersports camp and protected nature-reserve areas to keep clear of. A footpath circles the island, and there is a small white sand beach. No facilities ashore.
