Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south via the Aven estuary, leaving the Cochon de Beg Porz beacon to starboard. Sandy bottom with fair holding, though weed patches in places can foul the set. A light chop is always present at the mouth, and the middle of the channel should be left clear for passing traffic. Good shelter from NW through N and NE to E and W, fully open to S. In NW or NE winds gusts funnel down from the Aven and Bélon valleys. Strong ebb current in the Aven channel on falling tide. VHF 9 for Port-Manec'h.
Practical
There is no dinghy landing at the anchorage itself; land at Port-Manec'h, 0.4 NM west, where there is a water tap on the pontoon. Port du Bélon 1.2 NM NE for oysters and a restaurant.
Ashore
Sentier côtier GR 34 runs along the headland with views over both estuaries. Beach of Port-Manec'h 500 m west, sheltered by the headland. Bélon oyster farms along the river 1 NM NE, the original source of the plate Bélon oyster cultivated since the 1860s.
