Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entry from the W between the Pointe de Beg Morg and the Pointe de Kerhermen. The Aven has an entrance sill and the water shoals quickly, with the deepest point only about +0.1 m at the marker buoy, so anchor south-east of the shoal, just beyond the buoys and outside the yellow marks. Sand bottom, sheltered from almost every quarter except directly from the S, and it rolls in south-westerlies over 15 knots. Holding is good on sand. Keep clear of the swimming zone off Port-Manec'h beach and of the mooring field belonging to the SNSM station.
Practical
Water available. Port-Manec'h lies 0.1 NM to the SW with about 18 visitor buoys managed by the commune of Névez, a slipway and a small grocery. A pontoon is open for a shower and a quick run to the grocery for bread, though the harbour master limits it to about half an hour; reserve bread for an early arrival. Rosbras, 1.1 NM upriver to the N on the Aven, offers a riverside pontoon.
Ashore
GR34 coastal path passes above the cove, linking Port-Manec'h to Raguénez beach to the W and to the Bélon oyster beds to the E. Trégunc and Pont-Aven, the village that drew Gauguin and the Pont-Aven school, are within cycling distance at 6 and 4 km respectively.
