Sand anchorage close to the Pointe de la Ris, just south of the marina of Bormes-les-Mimosas on the west side of the Cap Bénat.

Approach and anchoring

Short approach from the south on sand. Anchoring is limited to boats under 12 m here because of submarine cables, and the gendarmerie maritime passes through. Drop on the gently shelving sand in about 4 to 7 m, holding well and standing up to 30 knots of mistral, with rocks and weed patches to avoid beyond that. Sheltered from the N, NW, W and SW, but open to easterly and SE winds that roll swell straight in. It rolls by day from motorboats and water-skiers, worst when the tourist shuttles pour back to Bormes around 6 to 7pm, and calms in the evening.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. The Marina of Bormes-les-Mimosas 0.5 nm to the north has fuel, water, a chandlery and provisions, with the fuel berth open around the clock by card. An L'Utile supermarket stands at the entrance to the Camp du Domaine campground, and there is a market and further shops at La Faviere. Port privé du Cap Bénat 1.3 nm to the south.

Ashore

Land the dinghy inside the Bormes-les-Mimosas marina, either side of the harbour where there are bins, or on the Meynial beach behind its dyke, which shoals to about 30 cm so row the last stretch. The restaurant Hestia is well regarded.
