Anchorage off a sand beach on the south flank of the Cap Sicié peninsula, between Six-Fours-les-Plages and La Seyne-sur-Mer in the Var.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south, seaward of the Cap Sicié massif. The bottom is sand with patches of posidonia, so drop on a clear patch for good holding in 4 to 7 metres. Shelter from the NW, N and W behind the massif; exposed to the south and south-east, where a residual swell or the wash of passing ferries can make it roll even in calm weather. Leave with any easterly.
Practical
No facilities. Saint-Elme harbour lies 1.7 NM to the NE and Le Lazaret 1.9 NM NE for water, provisions and refuge. Holding in 4 to 7 metres of sand.
Ashore
The beach, which is naturist, is only reachable on foot by the sentier du littoral from Le Brusc or by sea, within the Forêt domaniale de Janas and the Natura 2000 site Cap Sicié - Six-Fours. Notre-Dame du Mai chapel stands at 352 m on the cape, a traditional sailors' landmark since the 17th century.
